He was a founder of the Neo-Grec School and counted amongst his friends the artists Gérôme and Gleyre whose influence can be seen in his works. Exposed permanently in the Musée d'Orsay, as well as in the USA. He painted two works for L'Eglise St. Roch (for the Chapelle des Saintes Apôtres).
